Born in Berlin, Germany, Bernd was raised in Toronto, where he earned a B.Sc. at the University of Toronto in 1975, and an LL.B. at Queen's in 1978. In practice since 1980, Bernd moved to Kenora to join the firm in 1986 and now calls Kenora home.

When not at work, Bernd enjoys a host of activities including flying, woodworking, gardening and snowmobiling. His favourite hobby, aviation, is evident by his position as Chair of the Kenora Airport Authority, and Past President of the Kenora Flying Club.

Bernd is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
