Ryan is originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He attended Kings College at the University of Western Ontario to earn his H.B.A. in Management and Human Resources in 2009 and law school at Lakehead University. He was called to the Bar in September 2016 and practised family law and civil litigation with a respected law firm in Thunder Bay, Ontario prior to joining Shewchuk, Ormiston, Richardt & Johnson LLP in May 2021.

Ryan’s practice is mainly focused on family law. He has appeared before Ontario and Superior Courts of Justice across Northern Ontario, including Kenora, Fort Frances, Dryden, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie. Ryan has a wide range of experience with family law matters including custody and access (now called decision-making responsibility and parenting time), family violence, child support, spousal support, property ownership, property division, and divorce. Ryan also offers limited scope (unbundled) legal services for clients who may want a lawyer to help them with some parts of their case, but who would prefer to do other parts of their case by themselves to try to keep their legal costs down.

In his leisure time, Ryan enjoys cooking, playing sports, and exploring the vast natural beauty of the Kenora area.
